What's Different About the
Bauman College Natural Chef Program

The therapeutic emphasis of the Bauman College Natural Chef Training Program sets it apart from other chef programs. Like other programs, we teach professional classic and world culinary techniques, flavors, and styles; however, Bauman College's program focuses on therapeutic, whole foods ingredients and their healthful preparation. In our classrooms, you will find ingredients that serve a healthful purpose in our bodies. We use only whole, nutritious foods to create delicious works of culinary art that are as nourishing to the body as they are tasteful and beautiful.

Bauman College Natural Chef students don't just learn how to cook, they learn how to help nourish people's health with food. The first hour of every chef class is used for an in-depth lecture discussing the ingredients students will be using that day and their therapeutic benefits. We teach techniques that preserve the nutritive content of food rather than deplete it. In this way, our students learn how to cook in a way that is health-supportive for people who are recovering from illness and for overall health management.

Students also master a knowledge of alternative ingredients that can be used either in cooking for people with allergies or to cook food that is more dense in specific health benefits. Examples are gluten-free baking, dairy-free cream sauces and soups, and much more.

Bauman College Natural Chef graduate Jo-Anne Denicola is a perfect example of what we train our students to do in and for the world. Jo-Anne co-founded the Ceres Community Project, which teaches teens how to cook nutritionally balanced meals and also provides supportive meals to cancer patients that are made with ingredients that specifically target those patients' nutritive needs.

Food isn't just something we eat. It's something that nourishes us, body and soul. Our goal at Bauman College is to create a growing culture of wellness through holistic nutrition and culinary arts, and to change the world one bite at a time.
