Do you love your body? What does that question even mean to you? "Loving" your body can mean so many different things. It could mean that you think you look fabulous laying on the beach in a bikini. It could mean you are grateful for good health and enjoy feeling energetic or pain-free. It could even mean getting caught up in the enjoyment of physical sensations - the way a cool breeze feels against your skin on a hot day, the way a hot drink warms you all the way down to your stomach as you drink it, or even how a good stretch feels first thing in the morning.
Or, on the other hand, the term "love" could be interpreted less as an emotion and more like an action - a positive, nurturing way of treating your body. To "love" your body could mean being conscious of how you move and use your body, and what food, beverages, and other substances you put into your body. Perhaps "loving" your body means actively, lovingly coddling it toward optimal physical health and longevity.
Do you love your body? Perhaps you find yourself ignoring it completely; coddling your emotions instead with comfort foods, days spent on the couch in front of the TV, or nights spent doing anything but sleeping. Maybe you pay some attention to your body, but could really love it much better and much more often.
Check out our Nutrition Bytes article in this newsletter for some tips on how "get back to your body." Learn to be aware of how and when to provide for your body without over-providing through emotional eating. Also, for guidance in becoming conscious of your body in a truly life-changing way, consider signing yourself up for the August Vitality Cleansing & Rejuvenation Retreat™.
Summer is in full swing, allowing ample opportunity to nurture your body with outdoor exercise, fresh produce, and conscious living. It's time for you to define for yourself what it means to love your body.

How To Get Back in Your Body and Fight Emotional Eating
by Lisa Turner
One of the key pieces to understanding-and changing-compulsive eating, overeating, binging or any other uncomfortable patterns with food is being deeply and fully in your body. We call that embodiment. "But," you might say, "I'm always in my body. Where else would I be?"
It's a good question. The answer is, "In your mind." That's where most people spend the bulk of their lives. The mind is bright, witty, cunning; it spins a clever yarn, makes up exciting stories about the future, dramatizes the past. Meanwhile, we drag the body around all day like a dog on a leash, paying attention only when something goes dreadfully wrong.
But until you're keenly aware of your body, it's hard to change your relationship with food. By listening to your body's cues and attending to its needs, you can learn to feel -- not think -- when you're hungry, when you're full, and what you really need. You can stop binge eating, shift the way you use food, and make peace with your body.

July Recipe
When we think of summer, we think of zucchini, edible flowers, and the pursuit to look great in a swimsuit. With this recipe, we’ve covered all the bases. Highlighting fresh seasonal produce, our Zucchini Carpaccio helps cleanse the body, stimulate the breakdown of fat, and satiate with healthy protein and fat in the form of delicious ricotta salata. What better way to connect with your body than to adore it?
